Sick as a Dog

I've had two stamps in my collection from different companies, a sentiment from Custer's Last Stamp and an image from Great Impressions, that go perfectly together. So I made these cards and I hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

An Almost One Layer Card

Over on Stamp TV there are a great many really good videos made by Gina K showing many different card making ideas, tips and techniques.  This one; autumn-who-needs-tape, is really an almost one layer card.  I liked the idea of it but chose to use a different stamp and sentiment.  I used the textured treatment on the dress, making it a polka dot dress this time.  I had some scraps of card stock laying on the desk that I had cut out an oval for other cards so I used that for my mask and then another scrap became my banner for the sentiment.  I'm really using up those bits and pieces.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

A Comfy Robe

When you're not feeling well a comfy robe feels so good while laying on the couch sipping hot tea and trying to rest.  Not too long ago I saw this kraft card stock on Ellen Hutson's web site and thought it looked like a really good thing to try.  Well let me tell you it's gorgeous, so smooth and just the right color.  While trying to fall asleep the other night I got to thinking about it and the left over card parts I had sitting around and came up with this card.  The robe is a Lockhart stamp from ellenhutson.com as is the sentiment (there's a tissue box that goes with it also).  Inside I stamped another sentiment  that says 'get comfy, rest and get better'.  I stamped the robe on the front of the translucent card stock and clored from behind using RV69 Peony, it has kind of a cashmere look.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Lone Sunflower

This card was part of the birthday gift for my sister.  She doesn't like to acknowledge the passing of another year but she can always use a card or two to send out so that's what she gets.
Papertrey's August release had a Simple Sunflower set (with the matching die of course) that just jumped into my virtual shopping cart and screamed 'Take me I'm yours' (do ya think I've been reading to many romance novels???).
So I made this card with a leftover sunflower and a strip of DP  from the Fall Prints and Patterns by Papertrey.  The sentiment is from the Think Big Favorites 7, also Papertrey.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

A Get Well Pearl

I absolutely adore this DP from the Paper Company.  I got in this brown and also in black just so I could make some masculine cards.  Well men like pearls don't they????
I've been saving it for a time when my creative mojo was working and it finally kicked in the other day.
I decided to use this dark brown card stock from Gina K for the base and the Mehndi Medallion stamp set from Papertrey stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa.  I stamped the medallion onto one of the Limitless Layers shapes.  I thought this one worked well with the stamp.  After I had it done it just felt unfinished so I slapped a flat backed pearl in the center.  I used the larger of the Double Ended Banners, also from Papertrey, for the sentiment and used two small flat backed pearls at each end.  The sentiment is from the Little Labels set.
I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

A Spring Time Get Well

I wanted to make some get well cards to add to my card ministry baskets, so I spent some time looking around for  ideas and came across this video on StampTV.
I have the Spring Time Silhouettes set from Gina K,  so I pulled it out and got going.  I've decided that when I'm making cards like this I'm always going to make at least two cards so I ended up changing the format slightly.  Rather than going with the oval shape for the focal point I went with rectangle, it worked out better for me since I could use the scraps from the card base yellow layer for my focal point and sentiment.
I also skipped making the bow since that is something I just have more trouble with than it's worth when I'm rushed for time.
If you watch the video you'll see how this card was made and it really can be translated onto any stamp and DP.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Get Well Cards from Cleaning My Desk

When I was cleaning my craft desk I started putting items into piles trying to sort out all the c@*p I have. What I found was enough c@*p to make a dozen cards. First up was this get well card using a digi image from Digi Stamp Boutique. It was actually a freebie and I had printed off several copies of it. It was all colored with Copics so I was ready to go. I had the embossed layer sitting in another pile and it was already to go so I just found a scrap of dark brown card stock (Gina K) and some kraft card stock for the base and I was all done. The embossing was done with a Tim Holtz folder.
As I continued to clear up the desk I found another copy of this same image also colored up and

found some scraps and another kraft card base and easy peasy two cards are added to my stash.
See it pays to clean doesn't it? Now if only I could find money!!!
I found all kinds of fun things to play with but it'll have to wait til later in the week since I now have to prepare for Turkey day.
I'll be posting some of the other cards I made using bits and pieces over the next few days.
My habit of playing with my new toys and setting the results aside is coming in handy.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Get Well Hedgehog

I have been fascinated by the whole inchie thing. I first ran across it on the Ellen Hutson site and all of the Lockhart inchie stamps are so cute. I just didn't know how to make a card with them.
Well when I placed an order I saw these inchie squares--well there are inchie squares and inchie+ squares (inchie+'s are just enough bigger to make matting easy) and I saw possibilities. I have a lot of Rosie Roadshow stamps and many of them are small and I thought okay here's an idea.
The hedgehog stamp and the sentiment go together I just added the ? to the end (it made more sense to me). I didn't color the image since I wanted to keep the black and white theme (yes I know I added a little color under Hedgy so he didn't look like he was floating in air). I added the white on the black inchie+ with a white gel pen and the 'ground' with Copics.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Sneezie,Wheezie, Queezie

This is the last of the stamps I bought at the Novi show. These are Lockhart stamps and when I saw them I just cracked up. With the upcoming flu season I just might need to make more of these get well cards.
I combined some thing new (the stamps) with something old (everything else).
I had this card base sitting in a pile and added the beige edging at the top that I trimmed with EK edge punch Bumpy Road. I colored the image with Copics and cut it and the mat with Nestabilities Deckled Rectangle. I did the same with the sentiment. I didn't like the plain beige edge so I colored a white ribbon to match.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

An Exercise in Creation

The other day I was fooling around with this set. It is such a cool set but I have trouble thinking of ways to use it. It really should belong to my cousin Mary who loves all things tea.
However I just started cutting out the shapes using the PaperTrey dies to match the Tea for Two. Whoever thought of the dies to match the PaperTrey sets is brilliant. They are so easy to use.
Anyway I was going through my scraps and papers and came up with this combo. I used PaperTrey for the base and the yellow is a scrap from my leftovers drawer. The DP is a scrap from DCWV Nana's Kitchen, lots of sparkle on this piece. I had some of the label dies cut out in white and the sentiment fit nicely in there. I used some narrow pink ribbon from my stash and I wound it around several times and tied a knot. I was having trouble thinking of how I was going to attach the label until I thought of using the ribbon to hold it on (of course there are glue dots on the back). So it was done and I like how it turned out. What do you think. Thanks for stopping by.

A Cup of Get Well

This is another get well card made with PaperTrey's Tea for Two and Additions. I chose a different pot and cup with this card and stamped the cut outs (gotta love the dies for these sets) with Memento Pear Tart. It didn't pop against the yellow so I backed it with the navy. The DP is from DCWV Nana's Kitchen. The ribbon is Gina K. I did pop dot the tea pot for a little more dimension and I ran the PaperTrey Lemon Tart through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.
Now I have to put away these toys for now and make some sympathy cards, hmm what is more sympathetic than a nice cup of tea?????
Have to think about this one, I'll do that while I walk Eddie.
See ya. Thanks for stopping by.

A Little Get Well Tea

I'm trying to be good, really I am, but PaprTrey Ink just ruins my determination every month. When ever they have a release I just get sucked in, or rather my bank balance gets sucked out. I had made the decision to go back and start picking up some of the older sets and had chosen this Tea for Two set in honor of my cousin (Hi Mary). She is a tea fanatic. She is going to go crazy when she sees this card. Anyway in the last release Tea for Two Additions was released so of course I had to have that one also and the dies for both sets. The first set has the tea pots and sentiments with a few embellishments. The additions has the cups to match along with a spoon, tea ball, tea bag and a honey dripper.
In my quest to use what I had I used some of the Gina K In the Navy for my card base and PaperTrey's Lemon Tart for the DP. I stamped the spoon down the side then added the tea pot and cup on pop dots. The sentiment is also from the Tea for Two set and inside I stamped the get well soon form the same set. Since I love the blue and yellow combination I think I'll make another card using this same set. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Mr. Fix It Get Well

This is my card for the Karen's Doodles challenge blog this week. I think this image is just the greatest. I chose to make a get well card for this challenge.
I used my Lasting Impressions paper again (one of these days I'm going to run out of it) and a screw head brad I found in my stash.
I colored with Copics and assembled my card. I found this an easy card to make because I had used this same image for another challenge and it all just fell into place.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like it.

Get Well Left Overs

These cards are the result of my inability to throw anything away. Typical of crafters, right??? The Bazzil Swiss Dots paper is left over from the thank you notes I'm making for my niece. I had to cut the paper down from 12x12 to 8 1/2x 11. These two strips of 3 1/2 x 12 card stock I had stamped an image on and then used my one inch punch to remove them. (sounds a bit convoluted but you know what I mean). So when I was putting stuff away these strips intrigued me, I just knew I could do something with them. I trimmed the paper down to 10 inches and scored at 5. I went looking for something to stamp in the circle and found this little Stamps by Judith flower, perfect. I put some white card stock on the inside and marked where to stamp (I did a better job on the green than on the yellow) which I then colored with Copics.
The Chipboard Punch Outs from Colorbok I picked up JoAnn's on the dollar rack.
I am making a commitment to start using up stuff I have before buying new stuff, yeah right like that's going to happen. I'll buy new stuff and combine it with the old okay???
Well I hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

Challenge,Challenge, Challenge

When I got up this morning I decided I wanted to do something different. So I went to the Daily Dare site and chose three challenges to participate in. 2Sketches4You, 365 Cards, and Color Chef challenge #52. Whew did I know what I was getting into??? Not!!!
First of the sketch is not one of my favorite things to do but I need to get out of my comfort zone and this was really way out of it, but it is a great sketch to follow, then the colors are black, yellow, turquoise and red. Let me tell you my search for turquoise was a real hunt. I had one DP picked out (Atomic Turquoise) but it was too busy and just wouldn't work. My husband found this polka dot paper from Doodlebug Designs called Swimming Pool Swiss Dots, then I used Canson Blush for my yellow and Bazzill Basics Red Swiss Dots. I was all set when I found the Imaginisce Twitterpated Hey Foxy paper to complete my card for the 365 Days challenge which is to use Flora and Fauna until I remembered they had to be from different sources. So I rummaged through my embellishment stash and found this Flower Ribbon brad from Spare Parts. I added the ribbon and sentiment and a little stick on bug from the miscellaneous drawer and put it all on a black card base.

Get Well Daffodil

This stamp set was also in my PaperTrey order this month. It's from their Year of Flowers line. The Daffodil set includes this large daffodil and a smaller daffodil flower that is just the head no stem. I used the flower head to stamp a background on the card base using Memento Cantaloupe. Then using Fresh Snow I stamped the large flower onto kraft (an idea from the tip sheet for this set).
The sentiment is from the Communique Sentiments set.
This set has 7 sentiments in neat fonts and also a line of dots (I suppose you could use the dots as a border or just to indicate that you should open the card for further sentiments).
I need to add to my Get Well stash of cards and this set is really a good one for that, as well as birthday, sympathy etc. etc.
The year of flowers line is also intended as a tool for making calendars.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

A Bugaboo Get Well

I decided to participate in the Bugaboo "Catch the Bug" challenge.
This image was sitting on my desk crying out to be made into a card. Since the theme is April Showers with a sketch I went with it.
I had added my own text to the image and made it into a get well card. (Don't these rainy days make you feel blue ?)
Anyway I colored with Copics and used papers from the DCWV Prints mat stack. (the umbrella started out hot pink, then I realized it didn't go with the DP, so I added shades of red violet and violet, gives it a different look don't you think??)
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

A Get Well Card

I was looking for something new for a card and decided to wander through some of my stash for ideas.
I found this sticker and decided it would work for a get well card. It is an old Magenta Sticker I've had for years. I pulled it out and put it on a scrap of card stock and colored with Copics.
I then double matted it and mounted on the card stock embossed with a Sizzix folder that I used for the first time.
So something old something new and if there was blue I'd have to make it a wedding card. LOL.
Anyway I like it, what do you think.
Thanks for stopping by.

Get Well Doggies

Well we're back from our Christmas trip. We had a lot of fun, but it was a busy trip. Every day was packed with family events. So much fun.
Our drive to Buffalo was uneventful, just long. Seems like everyone was on the road and going slow. Our trip back was not so fun. Pretty much a white knuckle trip for me. The road were a bit slippery and it was very windy. We made it and only an hour lost on the bridges across the borders.
I am, however, happy to be back to blogging.
I made this card before Christmas and was glad to get away from holiday cards. This was the only get well card I made. The image is a Great Impressions stamp and the sentiment is from Custer's Last Stamp. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.
