Valentine's Day Revisited

In February I made Valentine's Day cards to send out to my Church people.  I pulled out my Nestabilities Heart dies and went to town cutting out all sizes in different colored card stock.  I had fun finding DP for backgrounds and putting the different colors together.  Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

 

I then decided to make a few wedding cards.

Happy Valentine's Day

I don't normally do Valentines' cards, but my cousin Mary sent me the cutest Valentine so I had to reciprocate.

I wanted to make one for her and also one for each of the people I send cards to each month for my church group.

I knew I wanted to use this red card stock from Gina K for the base and the heart and the white for a background.

I haven't done many embossed cards lately so I pulled out my Cuttlebug and Sizzix folders and got to work. Then I popped the heart up and I was done.

I think I ended up with a simple but elegant card.

Merry Christmas, Happy Valentine's Day,Happy Anniversary

This combo card is for a friend and his wife (Hi Dick & Jeanne). Dick commented to my husband that he didn't recall getting a Christmas card from us and wondered why since I make so many cards. Bruce laughed and told him that I was so busy making cards to give as gifts I never had time to make our Christmas cards. That is so true. Well to make up for it I decided to make a belated Christmas card for them, then I realized that their anniversary is on Valentine's Day and hep presto the idea for a combo card.

I've had this red DP on my desk for almost a year and never knew quite what to do with it. I didn't want to cover up too much of it since it's so pretty, there's flocking and glitter and such a gorgeous color. Mmmmm.

I thought of doing a step card and then settled on this format. The first design is of course Christmas. I used the Nestabilities Ornaments to cut our my shapes using Gina K's Not Quite Navy, then embossed the design from the Gina K Heirloom Ornament set in Martha Stewart Dove embossing powder.

Then I did the Valentine's Day element using Nestabilities Hearts for my shapes. I ran the red through my Cuttlebug with a Sizzix folder. I mounted it to a scalloped heart and added the sentiment in my own writing.

For the anniversary part I used Gina K's Fanciful Tags set for the main focal point and then cut it out with a Nestabilities Fancy Tag.

I think I may be onto something here, combining all elements of a friends life in one card. You don't think so? Well I guess I don't either, more fun to make a card for each occasion, though I would like to be a fly on the wall when they open this one. I can just hear them laugh.

Traditional Valentines

I decided to post one last Valentines card, so I chose this one since it seems to be more of a traditional style card.

I found this DP at Archiver's it's called Love Potion from Doodlebug Designs. It makes me smile just to look at it.

It is topped it with a Nestabilities Heart that I used my Copic air brush system to add a little pink around the edges . The sentiment was stamped before cutting out the heart.

A simple but sweet card for a loved one on Valentines.

A Chocolate Valentine

This is another Valentine's card I made the other day. I used my Heart Nestabilities to cut out the hearts. The white is the core-dinations Whitewashed with a pink core, that I ran through the CuttleBug with the Divine Swirls embossing folder and then sanded, the second is a very dark brown embossed with Swiss Dots and the last is pink just cut out with the scalloped heart Nestie.

The card base DP is from
Basic Grey Bittersweet paper pad that I got from PaperTrey Ink.

I then just stamped the sentiment on a scrap of pink card stock and cut it out with the deckled rectangle Nestie.

It's a little different but I like it, what do you think?

A Sanded Valentine

I don't normally do Valentines cards. ( I guess I don't like commercial holidays (except of course Mother's Day and Father's Day). But we are having a Bake sale at church and our Card Ministry will have a table to sell our cards to raise money for postage. So I decided to make a few cards to add to the sale.

I found this card stock at Archiver's, my friend Sandy told me about the new Whitewash Color Core paper from Core'dinations. Really neat stuff. I ran half of it through the CuttleBug with the Swiss Dots folder and the other half with the Divine Swirls folder. I then sanded it and added the dotted ribbon.

The stamp I picked up in the dollar bin at Michael's and cut out with a Nestie.

All in all I think it turned out really well. What do you think?

A Hearty Valentine

What this is really is a card made up of leftover parts. Should I really call this the Leftover Valentine???

The large heart is from a class I took a few weeks ago at Archivers with my friend Sandy. This was suppose to be used on a treat jar but I gave the jar to my husband to put junk in on his work bench. (Okay a junk Valentine??)

Since I had the heart I added a bunch of small hearts cut out with my Heart Nestabilities. Put it DP from Basic Grey Lemonade Paper Pad and added the sentiment.

The sentiment was a dollar stamp I picked up at Michael's while shopping with my friend Renee. (hi Renee )

A Remade Card

I posted yesterday about projects I've been working on and this is part of one of them. I belong to a Card Ministry at my church. Our mission is to send cards to members that can't make to mass for what ever reason, cards for anniversaries (I think it's 45 years or more) birthdays of anyone 85 or older etc. Lots of reasons. Some of our parishioners donate cards that they have been given or sent to them from various organizations that they can't or won't use. We of course can't use them as is so at our last meeting we gathered a bunch of them up and took them home to design cards with parts of the cards. Whew, what a long explanation for this simple card.

I took the front of one card and used the focal point only to make this Valentines card. It had the torn look to begin with so I just "tore" the focal image out and used Memento Lady Bug to color the edges. Plopped it on the DP (Basic Grey Lemonade) and I'm done.
