A Dapper Guy

In my quest to use all of my stamps I got a head start last year when I stamped off so many images to color while we were down south.  Several of the images are these great Penny Black stamps of guys and gals at that age that you think they can be any where from teens to 30's.  This image is Dash, don't you love the name.  When I started to color him I picture him ready to go out on a date with a steady girl friend maybe to dinner and a movie.

An Oopsie Halloween

One of the mantras of card makers is that when ever you goof on a card it's just another opportunity for embellishments.  This card is an example.
I love working with vellum, I really do, BUT it is so darn hard to attach it to any thing.  In this case I pulled out my vellum tape and used it on the four corners, but you could still see it, bummer.  So I thought about it and decided to make some photo corners.  Well I went looking for my punch and instead found this leaf punch and went with that instead.  I just punched the leaves from some of the Basic Grey Indian Summer DP that I had used for this card.  The card base is DCWV, the DP is Indian Summer and the Ghost is Penny Black.  I had stamped the ghost onto kraft and it came out well so I didn't use the embossing powder.
Great, the card was all done, or so I thought, when I went to put a sheet of white paper on the inside I realized I had assembled it upside down. LOL  I quickly pulled the focal piece off and turned it around and all was well.

Happy Halloween

I wanted to make a half dozen Halloween cards to send out and didn't have any Halloween paper. Oh my what to do.  I've been battling a really bad cold and didn't want to go out to shop (not wanting to share germs with the general public) so I went looking for some DP I could use for my project.  Luckily I found my Basic Grey Indian Summer 6x6 pad and with the darker colors I thought it would work.  So then I chose this ghost stamp from Penny Black for my focal image.  I started out stamping it with Papertrey's Fresh Snow and it looked good but I wanted better.  I realized that it is a hybrid ink so I quickly poured on some Reflections white embossing powder and hey presto a whiter ghost.  I did worry about embossing on vellum, but I was careful and it worked great.
I used DCWV charcoal card stock for my base and then layered Indian Summer and black and orange vellum to finish the design.
It may not be the spookiest card but I think it turned out really well.  What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by.   P.S. Lots of layers just for you Sandy.

Mission Accomplished

With this card I truly reached Mission Accomplished. I decided awhile back that I needed to use up some of my supplies before I bought anything new. Well that didn't last at all. I have tried to use existing supplies in making cards, but I have failed miserably when it comes to not buying anything new. You'll seem some posts that show new stamps soon.

I started to clean off my craft desk (yes, again) and found this Penny Black image of Ginger all colored up and everything. Right next to it was the flower and the embossed swirl layer. I thought it would all look cool on a black card base, so I gathered everything together and started to assemble but soon realized I needed a black mat for the image. I had already cut out the focal image with a scalloped Nestabilities so I just matted it with a plain piece of black card stock.

So there are four more things off my desk. Yeah!!!!

Mary Tapping

This is another of the wonderful Mo Manning images.

I've really been enjoying digital images. They are so versatile. If I can ever get my Photoshop Elements 2 figured out, they'll be even more versatile.

My friend Sandy, recently told me about a new site to check out for digi images. There are some really neat ones there. It is Karen's Doodles. Karen has some really sweet images. I just received another one and will be making a card with it today.

This image pays homage to the Red Hat Ladies (I know there's no hat but there is the red and purple). The sentiment is from Penny Black and it made me laugh when I saw it the first time. It reminds me of way back when I was a Service Rep for Ma Bell and the older ladies would go get their hair done every Thursday and we younger girls (in our 20's) would marvel at how they could go a week with the same hairdo. Can we spell extra hold hair spray???

A Forest Sympathy

I finally finished my sympathy cards. I love using this image. The message is also that you aren't alone. The forest lets you remember the friends and family that can help you deal with grief.

Well that's a depressing ramble.

This image is from Penny Black. The base is embossed with Cuttlebug Victorian.

I just took a couple of Memento Tear drop pads, Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa and rubbed them on the stamp. A corner punch and dark brown mat and I was done.

Sympathy

I sat down last night and made a list of all the people I'm making cards for this year. I mean the ones I give a small assortment of cards to as gifts. As near as I can figure out at this point the number of cards to make is over 120. Need to get hopping.

The interesting part of this is that most of the people want sympathy cards.

Well here's one of them. Penny Black comes through again with an image that works so well for this type of card. I just stamped it in Memento Rich Cocoa on a light beige paper and added this sentiment by Kathy Davis from Inkadinkado. I trimmed the paper down and mounted it on a dark brown DP cut out with Nestabilities Mega Curve rectangle. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Trees

I made this card for my cousins husband. (Hi Mike). I'm not sure I achieved my purpose with this card. I wanted a masculine type card but didn't want the typical golf, fishing, hunting etc. card.

I decided to use this stamp from Penny Black and emboss it with white embossing powder. That was fun (I didn't have any white embossing powder and had to get to the store before creative juices ran dry).

So I stamped with Versamark and then used Martha Stewart Dove embossing powder (I also used the clear embossing powder and that's what looks black on the card).

Penny Black and Vellum

This has to be one of my all time favorite cards. It just came together so easily. The vellum is the key. As soon as I had it backed with the white card stock I new that this stamp (Brush Tulips from Penny Black) was the one to use. I colored the stamp with Tombow Markers and then cut it out with Curved Rectangles Mega Nestabilities. Leaving it in the Nestie I sponged around the edge with Memento Summer Sky. A simple bow made with the Bow Easy and I was done.

Out and About with Penny Black

This is another of the stamps I wrote about yesterday. Doesn't she look like someone you'd like to hang out with? Love the dog. Again she's colored with Copics and matted twice to give some dimension. After I got her all done I thought something was missing so I studied her for a bit and decided she needed some earrings. They might be a little hard to see but I popped a couple of small pale blue rhinestones on her for some bling. Hope you like it.

Penny Black's Dash

Penny Black has a really cool line of stamps for teens and or young adults. "Dash" is one of them. Doesn't he look cool? I colored him with my Copics then cut him out with Nestabilities Small Deckled Rectangle and matted him on grey then dark red to match his shirt and shoes. I do like a guy with just a dash of color. The background paper is the Paper Co. Black Rain Drop (this paper comes in several colors and I think I have them all). The sentimant is Papertrey Ink's Birthday Basics.

QuicKutz Embossing foders

QuicKutz and Sizzix have come out with their own embossing folders to compete with CuttleBug. I've only purchased some of the QuicKutz folders and they are really great. Unlike CuttleBug these folder designs really are A2 size. I used the Diamonds and Dots folder on the card base for this birthday card (it's in the fund raiser box). The stamp is another Penny Black Brush stamp. I colored it with my Tombow markers and stamped on Neenah Classic white. I then went thru my scrap papers and found some papers for matting. Stamped happy birthday across the flower and it's all set. Hope you like it.

Flying Stars

Penny Black again. I've used this stamp on Sympathy cards but I thought this could be an elegant birthday card. I stamped this card using white ink on black paper. Using a mega curved rectangle Nestabilities I cut it out and then ran a silver leafing pen along the edge. It looked good but not quite enough. I pulled out this white dotted ribbon to finish it off. Penny Black

As I've been posting cards I've come to realize that I have allot of Penny Black stamps. This is "Slender". I've had it for quite some time and it's a stamp that is so versatile. I've direct colored it with markers, stamped it several times in different colors or as in this case gone with the black & white theme. I used a Martha Stewart punch on 4 sides to create a frame and added a few rhinestones for some sparkle. I think I'll use this for my sisters birthday. Hope you have a great day tomorrow.
