Decorating the Tree

I never got around to posting any of the Christmas cards I made this past Christmas. As a matter of fact I didn't send out that many cards either, too much going on at the time. This is a digital image from Maurie Manning. I have had this image printed out for over a year, along with a whole bunch of other images that I wanted to color. finally pulled some of them out and got busy.

A Lullaby Card

I went to the book store yesterday to pick Mariah Stewart's latest (Almost Home if you like to read this Chesapeake Diary series is terrific) and after I had paid for my purchases and on my way out of the store I saw this CD. Well of course I thought of my great-nephew Kellen and went back and bought it. I'm shipping it to him with this card that I whipped out in 5 minutes.

Of course the only reason I could put this card together so quickly is my inability to throw anything out.

Way back when I got the brilliant idea to make up card bases to have on hand (turns out not to be such a bad idea after all) and this is one of them. Then another idea I had was to print out some digital images to color up (the coloring up part never happened on this one) and have at the ready. So these two items have been sitting around for about a year and all I had to do was color up 'Michael' from Mo Manning and cut it out and mount it to the base. I have no idea where the DP is from but it works beautifully with this image don't you think.

I used Copics to color and this is what I used-- Hair YR21,YR31; Cloud B000 under the cloud for shading BG000; Skin E00,E21;Nightshirt Boo and for the wing and halo I used a Sakura silver Jelly Roll pen.

I cut the image out with a Nestabilities Deckled rectangle and edged it with YR31.

Baby's First Christmas

The baby in this case is Kellen Paul, my great-nephew. My sister (his Grandmother) asked me if I could make her a special card for the occasion and I said sure of course. (Didn't think to make one for myself)

I searched around and found this wonderful image by Mo Manning. The only problem is Kellen was born with a full head of hair and he still has all of it and more. Anyway, I printed the image onto Cryogen white and added the text on the ornament. Colored with Copics and smudged Memento Sky Blue around the edge after I cut it out with an Octagon Nestabilities. The DP is some leftover paper from last year.

An Anniversary Fix?

This image from Mo Manning really touches me. I think it is the perfect image for the anniversary cards that I made for my church group. We send cards to couples that have been married 45 yrs or more.

Don't Jack and Ginger look like they have had a long and wonderful life together? And they still hold hands. Yes I know, it's not real, but they represent those couples that have been married a long time.

While coloring this image I goofed when I tried to highlight or rather shadow around the image. While shading around Jack I inadvertently drew color out from his pants. I thought about just throwing it out but decided to trim around the bottom and see how it looked. By mounting it onto the DP from Memory Box's Enchanted

I think it works out ok.

Birthday Grillin' King

When I made the card for Randy using this image from Mo Manning I also had to use it for birthday cards (I made three). Guy card ideas are so hard to come up with but this image is a natural. I think I'm going to have to get more Big Guys.

I printed it onto Cryogen white and computer generated the sentiment. Doesn't he look like he's in his element?

I colored with Copics and added a couple of small brads.

The matting is Coredinations color core paper. It's hard to see but the blue that shows through after sanding (run through the CuttleBug with the Hounds tooth folder) matches one of the shades of blue on the DP from Lasting Impressions.

Big Guy Grillin'

Why oh why wasn't this guy around at the beginning of April (or if it was why oh why wasn't I smart enough to see it). This is the perfect image to use for my brother-in-law Randy. Randy is a big guy 6'5" and is a master griller.

We are headed to their house this summer (Tampa) for a graduation and will get to enjoy his luscious ribs -- yum, yum.

When I saw that Mo's Digital Challenge this week was a masculine theme I decided to send him a just because card.

I printed onto Cryogen white and colored with Copics.

The DP is Lasting Impressions and the mat is Coredinations Burnt Sugar. The edging is some narrow wood inlay strips that we found in a wood working shop in Grand Rapids a year or two ago. (got to use up this stuff I've had laying around)

A Sophisticated Tween

I was over at my friend Sandy's blog and was inspired by her post to join Mo's Digital Challenge 26. The challenge is to use black, white, kraft and any other color you want. Of course you also use a Mo's image.

I chose this sweet image "Between" for my card. I wanted to go with a sophisticated card base to highlight the sweetness of this image. I used a black card base and made a gatefold card. I added the white mat and then a DP from DCWV LaCreme matstack.

The image I colored with Copics and then matted with kraft.

Do you think she's daydreaming about one day being old enough to wear that little black dress and go clubbing with girlfriends, or is she just think about boys?? You be the judge.

Mummu Dancing

I wanted to participate in the current Mo Manning challenge, so I made this card.

I'm not sure it qualifies since it says no layers, but the only thing I have is the image on the card base so I have hopes.

Even if it doesn't qualify I love this image of Mummu. I would dearly love to spend time with this lady, wouldn't you?

I colored with Copics and cut her out with a Mega Curved Nestabilities.

The ribbon is Martha Stewart which doubles as the sentiment, cool huh?

Oops!

I have been wanting to work with this Mo Manning image for awhile and just haven't had the time. It was printed out quite a few weeks ago and finally it was colored and made into a card.

Every time I looked at this image I kept seeing Oops. Luckily I have a stamp with that sentiment.

I colored with Copics and cut him out with Nestabilities Label One. The matting is the back side of core'Dinations Black Magic that has been run through CuttleBug's Divine Swirls folder.

The DP is something I've had for several years and have no idea who's it is.

A Gray Wedding

I decided to enter Mo Manning's Digital Challenge, the challenge is to use shades of gray. Whew this was a hard one. I wasn't sure I could make something I liked just using gray. Then I found this DP Jacobean Black from foof-a-La. It really is more of a charcoal gray so I thought why not?? I used E40 for the skin since it has a gray cast, hair W1, dress and flowers C1 & C3, Tux is N1,N3 & N5.

I cut the image out with a Nestie and added a little bit of ribbon from my stash. Used Zot 3D's to mount it on the gray paper and then again to the card base.

All in all I liked it, what do you think?

Mary Tapping

This is another of the wonderful Mo Manning images.

I've really been enjoying digital images. They are so versatile. If I can ever get my Photoshop Elements 2 figured out, they'll be even more versatile.

My friend Sandy, recently told me about a new site to check out for digi images. There are some really neat ones there. It is Karen's Doodles. Karen has some really sweet images. I just received another one and will be making a card with it today.

This image pays homage to the Red Hat Ladies (I know there's no hat but there is the red and purple). The sentiment is from Penny Black and it made me laugh when I saw it the first time. It reminds me of way back when I was a Service Rep for Ma Bell and the older ladies would go get their hair done every Thursday and we younger girls (in our 20's) would marvel at how they could go a week with the same hairdo. Can we spell extra hold hair spray???

Alice in Mo Manning Land

This is another of the wonderful Digi Stamps from Mo Manning.

I colored Alice with Copics of course. It doesn't show in this photo but there is a tiny blue flower on the DP that matches the blue of the mat and some of the blue in the image.

This is such a sweet image that it was fun to make a card with her.

A Guy Card

This is another of the wonderful Mo Manning digital images. I needed some guy cards for my gift packages and this one certainly qualifies.

I colored with Copics and cut him out using a Nestabilities, then I cut the mat with the next size up.

After I had it all done I noticed that some of the color from his jacket had bled out so I grabbed a Copic in a lighter shade and gave him a shadow.

Danny Boy

This wonderful image from Mo Manning was a must for me. My friend Pat has a dog just like this (except he's black, so black I can't color him correctly or he'd be just a black blob on the paper). Danny Boy is a great dog. When we visited last year he was a good host to my Eddie. (Eddie was not that great a guest, he's a bit aloof).

Anyway I made this card for Pat and her husband Stan for Christmas. Colored with Copics and I used Polar White Flower Soft for the hat and around his feet.

Mo's White Challenge

When I went to my friend Sandy's blog I found out about Mo's Digital Challenge currently running and decided to join in.

I decide to use Mo's Door with Wreath. Don't you think this is a very welcoming image? It just symbolizes all that Christmas is about. Someone inside is waiting to invite you in, give you a warm drink and sit down with you to reminisce about past holidays. But I digress.

I used Cuttlebug folder Holly Ribbon for the base, then I took the QuicKutz Phrases folder and cut it up for the sentiment.

I used Copic E40 for the door, E41 and N1 for the shovel. The wreath is YG03 and G24, And E51 was used on the mat. A little B00 took care of the snow.

I originally had a red bow on the wreath then I double checked the requirements and changed to a white (well okay an off white) bow.

I've already sent out my Christmas cards for this year but I guess it's never too early to start on next years. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

It's a Winner

I'm so thrilled. I won Mo Manning's design challenge #3. It was so fun making these book marks and it's such a treat to have them win. My prize was to select one of Mo's many images. I chose the Nativity. I'll have a lot of fun with that one.

I may have to use the Nativity in Challenge # 4.

Anything But a Card

This is what I came up with for Mo's Digital Challenge 3. Believe me this was a hard one. Unlike the other challengers my mind doesn't often wander down the paths to other ways to use stamps. Well at least not digital stamps.
Anyway I while I was relaxing the other night reading my book I became irritated that my book mark had become really ratty looking.
The light bulb went off (no not the one in the lamp) and thought okay I'll make my own.
I chose these two images because I hadn't used them yet and really wanted to play with them.
I colored with Copics and on the door added a tiny red rhinestone. I think I'm going to run them through the Xyron laminate to keep them fresh. What do you think and thanks for stopping by.

Kai Enjoys Fall

I wanted to join in the fun at Mo' s Challenge Blog so I chose this image. Doesn't Kai look like he's having the best time. I really enjoyed coloring him up with fall colors since these are my favorite colors anyway. Too bad we're not having the best fall this year. I miss those crisp fall days. I remember my Dad raking leaves and us jumping in the piles. Back in those long ago days we burned the leaves at the end of the driveway. Remember those smells??? The "Perple" Nuns

I decided to enter Mo's Digital Challenge after visiting my friend Sandy's blog. The challenge is to use one of Mo's images and use the color "Perple" since that is Bella and Bronte's favorite color. Well my favorite image is the dancing Nuns. Of course I've never seen any Nuns habit in purple but I guess somewhere there might be an order using this color. I think I used every purple Copic I had and then traced the edge with a gold leaf pen after I cut it out with a square Nestabilities. I mounted it on purple card stock cut with a scalloped square Nestabilities. I used a grass stamp from Art Impressions with Memento Cottage Ivy. The sentiment is Impression Obsession words and cut with Nestabilities tag, a little white ribbon and rhinestones and I'm done. Oh, the DP is from paper Adventures. Happy Birthday Ann

This is another of Mo Manning's digi stamps. I really, really love this image. This could be me and any other girl/woman who loves to read. I made this card for my sisters birthday since I know she'll love it also. I colored with Copics and found some nice striped paper to use with fun colors. There really isn't too much to say about this particular card. I think it speaks for itself. I look at this image and long for an older house with lots of nooks and crannies and of course window seats. It has to be an old house, new houses just don't have the right atmosphere. Anyway I really had a great time making this card and especially sending it to my sister for her birthday.
