A card for Reese

My sister Ann is a Nanny to several adorable girls, the youngest, Reese, often asks when the mail comes is there anything for her. Sadly up until this card, the answer was no.  Ann said she loved it.  I used Blue Prints 28 die set from MFT stamps to die cut the card front from MFT's Plaid Pattern paper pack and the chevrons and dots from coordinating card stock. The stamped image is from Silly Monsters by Your NextStamp, you can find them on the Simon Says Stamp! web site.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Treescape

Since I've become fascinated with water coloring I decided to try my hand at free hand coloring. I like how it turned out but I don't think I'm a threat to any artists out there. Thanks for stopping by.

What Now and Results

I have not posted cards on a regular basis in a long time. I've been making cards all along just haven't time to edit them and post but I'm determined to get back into the swing of it.  I've been working on water coloring quite a bit in several different mediums and Starry Colors by Gansai Tambi just dazzled me. I saw them on several web sites Prairie Paper and Ink and Jennifer McGuire.
I started to play with them on some scrap black card stock (top picture) and the colors are fabulous. There are six shades of gold paint, blue gold, red gold, yellow gold, champagne gold, light gold and white gold. Holy cow they are just gorgeous in person. After I finished play time I couldn't just throw them out so I set them up and looked at them for a couple of days and thought about what I wanted to do with them and the bottom picture is part of the result. the card with the ragged edge was the result of pulling off the tape I used to hold down the card stock to keep it from warping. Since it is not water color paper I had to be careful about how much water I used.
Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Mother's Day

I woke up last Monday morning and realized I had not made my Mother's day cards to mail out that day. I quickly looked through my stamp sets and settled on a Gina K Design set designed by Melanie Muenchinger called Spring Basket that had been lolling around in my bin of sets for way too long. I also had just gotten a sentiment stamp set Celebration Scripty Sayings by Lawn Fawn from Simon Says Stamp. I used white card bases with dark brown card stock for matting (Papertrey Ink). Once all the elements were organized I stamped the images with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics. I should have masked the flowers before stamping the basket but I was in a hurry and not thinking so I did the best I could.  I pretty much used elements from all my favorite sites. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.  P. S I got them in the mail the next day so I hope they arrived by yesterday.

Kellen's Birthday

When I saw this set from My Favorite Things it was a no brainer that I had to have this set.  This character from Birdie Brown's Super Boy set just made me think of my great nephew. the stamps have coordinating dies that make this even more fun to work with, wow it was so easy to put this together.  I colored with Copics and mounted him onto a circle cut with one of my Die-namics circles. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. #mftstamps

Love at First Touch

One of the sets I found in my cleaning up is a lovely set from Gina K Designs by Melanie Muenchinger called Hand In Hand. I couldn't find it on their web sight so I think it's no longer in production. The die is from Papertrey Ink. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Tulips and a Dragon Fly

This card just makes me happy, I love tulips and this set has a fun take on them. I used the rock and roll technique to color them. The dragon fly was just a bit of whimsy. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Butterfly Sympathy

I've had to make way too many sympathy cards lately. I had a stack of premade card bases sitting on my desk so I put together some cards and this is one I came up with. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Odd Balloons

When I was working on getting my craft stuff organized I also realized that I don't use my dies as often as I would like since it means hauling out my Cuttlebug, my paper cutter and so on. More work than I want to do since I have to work on my dining table. I got the bright idea to make die cuts as I was sorting out the dies. Another great idea in concept that really turned out well. I bought an album with top loading pages to place the die cuts in and now I can just grab some when I need them. One of the dies I made cuts with in different colors was By the Numbers from Papertrey Ink. I thought it would be fun to have different colors when making birthday cards. What I ended up with was a glorious pile of odd shapes that came out of the centers of the numbers.  I've been seeing many card designs with balloons on them so I took those shapes and made this card. Lesson learned in crafting is not to waste potential items. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Mehndi Medallion

I was looking at my craft area a few weeks ago and wondered how I had let things get so out of hand. I decided to take the time to straighten out my stamps and dies and find a better way to work with them.  Well it was a good idea in concept but as I worked I couldn't help but make cards while I had different stamp sets out.  I found sets that I had completely forgotten about and it got the creative juices flowing. Mehndi Medallion from Papertrey Ink was one of the sets I found.  When I decided to make cards as I sorted things out I also decided to make two of every design (well not exactly alike, can't do that). I made this card and then the same card in different shades of blue. I liked this one the best so it's the one I'm sharing. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Hippo Birdie

Recently I've found some really cute stamp sets on different web sites. This one Wish Big from Ellen Hutson made me laugh when I first saw it.  The different images alone or in combination make great cards.  After I received the set in the mail I was so busy I couldn't get time to play with it but I finally got to play. Oh it was fun to make this card.  I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Can't Make 2 Cards Alike

I have a real problem when making cards that I just can't make cards exactly alike (except when making for a requested occasion like rehearsal dinners). I get into a card making marathon and I want to make as many cards as I can so I set up a production line.  This was the result of one of those marathons, cards are alike except for the sentiment and where I placed it, no time at all and 2 pretty cards. Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

Stately Flowers

Gina K has a series of stamp sets called Stately Flowers and if you have a Silhouette cutting system there are free cut files and frames for them.  This frame is from the 8th set and the flower is from the 5th set.  The stamp sets are really beautiful and the cut files make for a more interesting card. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Fat Cat

Papertrey Ink came out with this Halloween set called Superstition. I have a few family members who are cat lovers and when I wanted to make my sister-in-law a birthday card I thought of Bonnie and her cats and decided this would be perfect for her. I cut a circle into a piece of scrap card stock and created this sun for the cat to watch then drew in the horizon and using daubers created the land and the sky. After that was all done I stamped the cat using black ink. After I had it all done I realized that I had stamped the cat using the back of the stamp hence the Fat Cat. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Smile Little Boy

I was going thru my stash of cards and found a couple of them that had been hanging out in the box for way too long. I looked at them and thought to myself  'What on earth were you thinking'. I guess it was a moment of absolutely no inspiration. One card there was no redeeming it so into the trash it went, this card base was still good so I removed the DP that was on it and went looking for a DP that would work with this card stock. I found this in a My Mind's Eye paper pack called PLAYDATE. It is an old one from 2012 but I still had a few sheet left and this one kind of tickled me. It is a 6 x 6 pad so I trimmed it down and decided to let the S M I L E be my sentiment and leave the DP be the focal point. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Fleece Navi-baa

I tried to combine a white wash technique with humor and like washing something red in with the whites I got pink sheep. A couple of years ago Gina K Designs came out with this set Fleece Navi-baa and it is just so cut I had to try it out. Well it sort of worked, pink sheep for Christmas??? Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.
