Get Well Cards from Cleaning My Desk

When I was cleaning my craft desk I started putting items into piles trying to sort out all the c@*p I have. What I found was enough c@*p to make a dozen cards. First up was this get well card using a digi image from Digi Stamp Boutique. It was actually a freebie and I had printed off several copies of it. It was all colored with Copics so I was ready to go. I had the embossed layer sitting in another pile and it was already to go so I just found a scrap of dark brown card stock (Gina K) and some kraft card stock for the base and I was all done. The embossing was done with a Tim Holtz folder.
As I continued to clear up the desk I found another copy of this same image also colored up and


found some scraps and another kraft card base and easy peasy two cards are added to my stash.
See it pays to clean doesn't it? Now if only I could find money!!!
I found all kinds of fun things to play with but it'll have to wait til later in the week since I now have to prepare for Turkey day.
I'll be posting some of the other cards I made using bits and pieces over the next few days.
My habit of playing with my new toys and setting the results aside is coming in handy.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to This Card

When I went to clean up after my card making binge I got sidetracked into making this card. As I was putting stuff away I started to pile up the scraps and found that one of the scraps had tape on the back of it ( I had intended to use on another card but it was the wrong size). It's the white with brown polka dots (how did dots become named polka anyway???) so I grabbed another scrap and put them together. Then I found the striped paper and the card base and put them together and I was almost done. No focal point so I went to my stash of colored images and found this one from Digi Stamp Boutique. Since I had the twine still out a cut off a length of it and wrapped around one of the layers. After I had the card all assembled I found that I had put the beer mug on the wrong way, luckily I was able to pry it up and turn it around. Whew ! Now I can add it to my stash of birthday cards.

Baby On Board

My Niece is expecting her first baby come September and I like to let her know that we think this is absolutely wonderful. She's a beautiful girl, smart, athletic,and puts up with my nephew with grace and humor (humor being the most needed).

I found this Alexa image at Digi Stamp Boutique and immediately thought of Michelle. I'm trying to up my cards by using more layers (Yes, I know Sandy, I do have a ways to go, but I'll get there yet thanks to your tutoring).

The DP's are (in order) Bazzil Basic Swiss Dots, Kelly Panacci Atomic Turquoise and The Paper Company Green Glimmer.

I colored Alexa with Copics and the sentiment is computer generated and the image was cut out with my new Deckle Edged Rectangle Nestabilities that I picked up at Hobby Lobby this morning.

A Fishy Birthday

I needed to make some guy cards for my card ministry group and I decided good old Jim would be perfect. These images are from Digi Stamp Boutique (in the U.K.) and are ideal for manly cards.

I colored his t-shirt with several different shades of beige and tan to give it a bit of a cammo look. (yes I know that's more a hunting thing, but you know Jim, it's his lucky shirt and look he caught a fish).The sentiment is computer generated and the phrase in the bottom corner is an oft quoted sentiment.

The card base DP is an old one and the matting is kraft.

A Golfin' Birthday

On this card I decided to dress Jim up a bit. After all most golf courses require a collared shirt.

I had this one all colored after picking out this DP, then realized I had colored the flag yellow. No yellow any where on the paper, so I quickly hauled out a deep red to match and hey presto I'm back in business.

The little golf ball down in the corner is really a brad that has a slit in the side for holding string, but it works for a golf ball.

I'm going to have to get over to the Digi Stamp Boutique and pick up some more Jim stamps, they really work well for me.

A Swingin' Birthday

When I printed off these Jim images from Digi Stamp Boutique I thought this one would look great on some out doorsy type DP. Then I found this one in my stash. It's Imaginisce Twitterpated Hey Foxy. What is really neat is that it is double sided and the matting is the reverse side, so I had my blue sky with clouds too.

I colored with Copics, then for the grass I added Earth Textures Elements "Sod" by Barbara Trombley (Art Glitters Inc.). I picked this up probably two or three years ago at craft store that is no longer open. (It is so sad that so many shops are having to close up.)
