You Are My Sunshine

Simon Says Stamp! offers sets of water color card designs by Suzy Plantamura. I've bought all of them but this was the first set that I've colored. When I found out that the theme for my great niece Grace's first birthday party was to be you are my sunshine well this card was meant. I decided to color it in an ombre fashion, of course in sunshine shades. I was very happy with the results and I'm sure Grace loved it also, I know her Mommy did.

A Beary Birthday

My Favorite Things has a line of stamps designed by Birdie Brown that are impossible to resist. Birthday Bears was the first set I bought and it is such a fun set to color and make cards with.

Kellen's Birthday

When I saw this set from My Favorite Things it was a no brainer that I had to have this set.  This character from Birdie Brown's Super Boy set just made me think of my great nephew. the stamps have coordinating dies that make this even more fun to work with, wow it was so easy to put this together.  I colored with Copics and mounted him onto a circle cut with one of my Die-namics circles. Odd Balloons

When I was working on getting my craft stuff organized I also realized that I don't use my dies as often as I would like since it means hauling out my Cuttlebug, my paper cutter and so on. More work than I want to do since I have to work on my dining table. I got the bright idea to make die cuts as I was sorting out the dies. Another great idea in concept that really turned out well. I bought an album with top loading pages to place the die cuts in and now I can just grab some when I need them. One of the dies I made cuts with in different colors was By the Numbers from Papertrey Ink. I thought it would be fun to have different colors when making birthday cards. What I ended up with was a glorious pile of odd shapes that came out of the centers of the numbers.  I've been seeing many card designs with balloons on them so I took those shapes and made this card. Hippo Birdie

Recently I've found some really cute stamp sets on different web sites. This one Wish Big from Ellen Hutson made me laugh when I first saw it.  The different images alone or in combination make great cards.  After I received the set in the mail I was so busy I couldn't get time to play with it but I finally got to play. Can't Make 2 Cards Alike

I have a real problem when making cards that I just can't make cards exactly alike (except when making for a requested occasion like rehearsal dinners). I get into a card making marathon and I want to make as many cards as I can so I set up a production line.  This was the result of one of those marathons, cards are alike except for the sentiment and where I placed it, no time at all and 2 pretty cards. Fat Cat

Papertrey Ink came out with this Halloween set called Superstition. I have a few family members who are cat lovers and when I wanted to make my sister-in-law a birthday card I thought of Bonnie and her cats and decided this would be perfect for her. I cut a circle into a piece of scrap card stock and created this sun for the cat to watch then drew in the horizon and using daubers created the land and the sky. After that was all done I stamped the cat using black ink. After I had it all done I realized that I had stamped the cat using the back of the stamp hence the Fat Cat. Double Whammy

Oh boy, with this card I got a double whammy. Making a masculine card using existing supplies. The tree was left over from Christmas cards is a die cut from Papertrey Ink's In The Meadow set and the deer are stamps from the same set. I'm not sure where the sentiment is from,

Choo Choo

Since we have young boys in the family I needed to come up with cards for them, Trains are always a good way to go with the little ones (and I shouldn't be sexist and say this would be good only for boys since girls can be interested in trains also). So anyway I stamped this with Memento London Fog using the Papertry Ink stamp set Train Tracks. It is such a cute set with a variety of options. I wanted to keep it neutral and the DP from Basigrey"s Hey Boy paper pack was just perfect for this card. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Fab Birthday

A Gaiety Girl

Years ago I found this stamp from All Night Media at either Michael's or Joann's and bought it for my husband who is a Toulouse-Lautrec fan.  It has sat in a drawer for quite some time and I thought it was time to bring her out.  I kept the card fairly simple to give her the spotlight.  I trimmed off some of the front of the card and stamped the sentiment on the inside.  Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

The Positive and the Negative

Papertrey Ink has this Snow Drift die set that allows you to get two cards out of one cut by using both the positive and the negative. What a time and money saver, helps make  card making time go a lot easier and I'm all for that.  Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

What is Your Secret

Another one of the images I colored last winter is one of the "Ladies" from Inky Antics. I like the image but I always wondered what she was saying. Then I realized I had the perfect set of sentiment stamps to go with it from Great Impressions.  Together they make the best birthday card. The inside says "For looking so good  Happy Birthday". Perfect right? Then I used my Silhouette to cut out some conversation bubbles, great way to do this.  Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Let The Merriment Begin

Last October Papertrey Ink released a set Come All Ye Faithful that is dog related, since I was going through a hard time with my dog it was a no brainer for me to get this set.  It is a set geared towards Christmas but I wanted a variety of cards to give to my Veterinarian as a thank you for all her help with Eddie. This card is one of them, I used a sentiment from this set that works well for a birthday card and added balloons and a cute bow tie. There is a matching set of dies that make paper piecing so easy (although I have to say that handling that little bitty tie was fun NOT).  The reason the front of the card is shorter than the back is that I used the cut off piece for another card, then I added some DP to the inside and to the front.  The tree is from the In The Meadow die set (Papertrey Ink)  as is the "hill" in polka dots. Angel Eddie

Well, when I decided to get busy posting I didn't take into account how many decisions I would have to make. Which card to do next, so I'll just go back and forward in time. We had to put our dog Eddie to sleep a couple of weeks before Christmas and that was a hard thing to do. We are so lucky with our Veterinarian that I wanted to make some special cards for her.  The Come All Ye Faithful set from Papertrey Ink was the perfect set for me to use.  This set is dog images, accessories for the dogs and

sentiments.  Way cool.  So anyway I made several cards for the Dr. and this is one of them, I call it Angel Eddie for obvious reasons.  I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

I finally had time to play with some sets from Gina K Designs that have been sitting on my desk.  There are Silhouette Cameo cut files to go with the sets that make it even more fun to create cards.
First up is this Lady Slipper flower from Stately Flower 7 and the frame cut files that match.  Tell me you don't think this is a beautiful idea.  I colored the flower with Copics and mounted onto Gina K card stock.  The sentiments are form Papertrey Ink's Signature Greetings II.  My sister Ann's birthday is today and the card on the right is what I decided would be the perfect card for her.
